Alex Mbugua

This is me. I code stuff. My name is Alex, though if we met online you might know me as “asce1062”, “alex.immer”, “3341”, or “FrostyFeet”. I like all sorts of weird (computer) things.

I'm a full-stack engineer, chip musician, open-source tinkerer, and the person behind this site. Based in Nairobi, building things on the internet.

By day, I design and build secure, scalable cloud systems for high-impact platforms. By night (and most weekends), I compose chip music, reverse-engineer things for the joy of understanding them, and tinker with this website instead of actually writing content for it.

My curiosity started early. I had a hand-me-down Casio Databank when I was six. I spent an unreasonable amount of time poking through every menu and feature, trying to figure out how it worked and what else it might be capable of. Looking back, that was probably my first introduction to reverse engineering, even if I didn't have the words for it yet.

A few years later we had an Amiga 2000 at home. That machine opened the door to games, trackers, and the strange magic of computers making music. At first I wanted to build my own games, but over time I realized the parts I loved most were writing code and composing music.

So I've stuck with those over the years, with the same curiosity that started with a calculator watch and a beige computer.
